Shawn Gerrard is a filmmaker from Toronto and alumnus of the York University film production and screenwriting program, the Toronto International Film Festival’s TIFF Filmmaker Lab, and the Warner Bros Discovery Access Directors roster initiative.

Shawn has written and directed short films, a feature film, as well as episodic television. Shawn’s short films have screened at film festivals across North America, including the Toronto International Film Festival, Austin Film Festival, the HBO/BET sponsored Urbanworld Film Festival in New York City, Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles, Montreal Black Film Festival, Reelworld Film Festival among many others. Shawn’s short film My Viola was broadcast on CBC television and streamed on CBC Gem, and his short film Inheritance screened at the Toronto International Film Festival as part of the NBA’s Films for Fans celebration of the NBA’s 75th anniversary.

His episodic credits include Jane on AppleTV+ and produced by Sinking Ship Entertainment, The Next Step from Boat Rocker Media, Take Note from NBCUniversal Peacock and Lambur Productions.

Shawn’s feature film, Space & Time, screened at the Austin Film Festival and premiered theatrically in Canada in 2020 prior to the global pandemic to a 4/5 star review in the National Post that was published across the country. The film aired on Hollywood Suite and is available to stream in Canada and the United States on various VOD platforms through iTunes, Bell, Shaw and DirecTV, and Amazon Prime Video. The film is distributed in North America by IndieCan Entertainment.
